Jacqueline D. DaFonseca

Marketing AssociateMs. DaFonseca is a motivated professional who served as President of a national talent management company from 2009 to 2011. She excelled in areas specific to the firm’s strategic planning, public relations, sponsorships and overall growth initiatives. Jacqueline is fluent in the languages of Cape Verdean Creole and Spanish. Ms. DaFonseca joined Sherwood Forest Capital Management in 2011. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Behavioral Science from Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts.

Company Role

Jacqueline works with a variety of business owners, particularly those in the legal field and investment services. She works with companies in the Central Virginia as well as her hometown in Boston, Massachusetts.


Background: Richmond Canal Walk, which runs through downtown Richmond along the banks of the Haxall Canal and the James River & Kanawha Canal.

Joseph McDonald

Co-Portfolio Manager | PartnerPrior to joining Sherwood Forest, Mr. McDonald served from 2006 to 2008 as a Capital Markets Research Analyst and member of the Investment Committee and Research Committee at Cary Street Partners, an SEC registered investment advisory firm. From 2005 to 2006, Joseph was employed by INGENCO Wholesale Energy as part of the dispatch team, selling electricity into the PJM Interconnection Market.

Mr. McDonald was selected as a 2012 Rising Star of Mutual Funds, for the 19th Annual Mutual Fund Industry Awards by Fund Industry Intelligence, Institutional Investor Inc., and sponsored by Putnam Investments. Mr. McDonald will be a Panel Speaker for the 2012 Opal Financial Group Family Office & Private Wealth Management Forum, “The Race for Returns,” a private wealth series event in Rhode Island.

Mr. McDonald earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Virginia Commonwealth University. He holds a Series 6 license.

Company Role

Mr. McDonald manages the day-to-day operations, serving as the company Chief Operating Officer. Mr. McDonald is also the Co-Portfolio Manager of the investment strategies and the developer of our quantitative managed account programs, our satellite strategies.


Background: Located near the center of the Outer Line Defenses, the National Memorial Arch was built in 1910, to honor the sacrifice and hardships endured by the Continental Army at Valley Forge.

Daniel J. Mincarelli

PartnerDaniel Mincarelli has over 20 years of financial services experience. Prior to joining Sherwood Forest Capital Management, Daniel was National Director of Advisor Solutions for Gardner Lewis Asset Management; the Advisor of The Chesapeake Funds.

From 2005 to 2007, Mr. Mincarelli was a Senior Business Development Officer for Schwab Institutional, a leading provider of custody and trading solutions to registered investment advisor firms. Mr. Mincarelli consulted with firms that represented over $5 billion in advisory assets. Immediately prior to Schwab Institutional, Mr. Mincarelli was a Vice President with ABN AMRO Asset Management where he was responsible for sales and business development of ABN AMRO mutual funds and separate accounts to institutional investors. Mr. Mincarelli cultivated an under-developed territory into the number 1 producing territory in the Nation. From 1987 to 1999, Mr. Mincarelli held a variety of positions with The Vanguard Group. His last responsibility with the firm focused solely on the registered investment advisor marketplace throughout the Nation, providing consultative services to some of the largest registered investment advisory firms in the country.

Mr. Mincarelli is a magna cum laude graduate of Rosemont College, with a B.S. degree in Management. He holds FINRA securities licenses 6, 7, 63, and 66. He resides in Phoenixville, PA.

Company Role

Dan utilizes his vast marketing experience to introduce Sherwood Forest Capital Management to Brokers and Advisors who actively utilize alternative investment products for their clients.

Douglas Stewart

Portfolio Manager | PartnerMr. Stewart became a Registered Representative with Primerica Financial Services in 1996. He subsequently moved into consumer banking with Nations Bank in 1998. Mr. Stewart joined Scott & Stringfellow in 1999 and began focusing on stock market analysis. In 2003 Mr. Stewart became an Independent Advisor, and in early 2007 Mr. Stewart opened Sherwood Forest Capital Management. Mr. Stewart has been quoted in many financial news publications including Wall Street Transcript, Barron’s, Investors Business Daily, Institutional Investor, and others.

Mr. Stewart holds his Series 7 and has a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Company Role

Doug Stewart is the lead Portfolio Manager for our investment programs. Mr. Stewart is responsible for the creation and execution of the Long/Short Program, our flagship strategy. He handles the day-to-day portfolio management of the investment strategy. His responsibility includes the analysis of the market environment and security selection for the strategy.
